Who am I?
Although I’ve been aware of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle from a young age, my interest in health and fitness really started during my time working in the film and television industry. Working closely with people who were so body conscious rubbed off on me, and made me think about how I was looking after my health. I started to explore and expand my knowledge which led to me beginning training to be a personal trainer. Although working in film and TV was exciting at times, I knew that I was destined to be a personal trainer so I began working in gyms in London around my day job to gain experience. As soon as I had qualified I went full-time and loved every minute.
I am a Level 3 Qualified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist now based in Barnstaple, North Devon. I am passionate about fitness, health, diet and an overall feeling of well being. If you have read this far you are almost certainly ready to embark on a enjoyable, informative, life changing journey – one that is flexible and adaptable and that works with you and your lifestyle whatever that maybe.
Why North Devon?
I grew up in West London but North Devon has always held a very special place in my heart. From as early as I can remember, my Mum and Dad would take me and my older brother to a beautiful campsite in Combe Martin every summer where we would stay for as long as my Dad’s work would allow. I have so many wonderful memories of the times we spent here, and remember clearly that every year at the end of the holiday my brother and I would try to convince Mum and Dad we should stay just one more day. I never wanted to leave.
When I first met my husband he had never been to North Devon, so the first chance I got I brought him down here for a long weekend, and he loved it as much as I did. We came down regularly from then on, and even started to talk about the possibility of moving here permanently. Eventually we decided that we should go for it and took a leap of faith. We sold up in London, said our goodbyes and in December 2013 we moved in to a house we’d found just outside Barnstaple. Although I still miss certain things about London I can honestly say I have absolutely no regrets.
When I was thinking about what to write on this page I started looking through some old photos and I came across the one below. I think this was taken when I was about 8 years old, and shows my Mum, my brother and myself at Lee Bay. You can see from the smile on my face (I’m the one with the ice cream, of course!) how happy I was to be there, and it’s still one of my favourite places in the world.
