Hello, my name is Emma and I would like to welcome you to my to my very first blog post on my new website.

So you might ask – what is this all about? Why am I writing a blog?

I have always been fairly career minded, but a few years ago I reached one of those stages that I think a lot of people go through. I started to think about what I really wanted to do with rest of my life. After quite a bit of soul searching I came to the conclusion that perhaps I should try and combine something I already have a passion for with a new career path.

This is where health and fitness comes in. Fitness and exercise have always been a keen part of my life. As a youngster I was always involved in an activity of sorts – tennis, athletics, dancing and swimming took a great deal of my time. As the years progressed and I got older I continued to keep fit, but other things got in the way and I had less time for exercise. I realised that I missed it and I wanted it back in my life. My other passion is cooking (especially baking) so I decided to take the plunge and combine both interests into a complete lifestyle change. I first trained to become a fitness instructor, followed by more study for a personal trainer qualification, and combined this with a nutrition diploma.

I grew up in West London and lived there until my mid thirties, so I am fairly new to the area. After a lovely weekend break a few summers ago in North Devon, my husband and I decided to throw caution to the wind and made a big decision – to move away from the hustle and bustle of city life and set up camp in the much prettier surroundings of Barnstaple. We’ve been here almost two and a half years now and I think we would both agree we made the right choice.

So that is a little bit about my background, and by now you may well be thinking what is the point of this blog (!). Of course it will have a general theme of health, fitness and nutrition, but I really want this blog to be a bit of everything – sporty, healthy, foodie and lifestyle related. Basically anything that helps make us feel healthy, energised and good about ourselves. I mentioned at the beginning that this is my very first step into the world of blogging, so please bear with me as I feel my feet!! My plan is to try and include anything that a health conscious person living in North Devon might find of interest.

As well as me jabbering on, I would love you to tell me what you would like to read about and what you would like included (it doesn’t all have to be about exercises or food). If you know of a beautiful place that you would like to share so we can all enjoy it, an event that you would like to talk about or simply anything that makes life more interesting please email me.

This really is open for all, and something that I want everyone to get involved in and enjoy. Happy Reading!!!
